Compress image to 50KB

Drop a photo, get a file under 50KB. It runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.

How to compress an image to 50KB

  1. Choose your photo or drop it into the box.
  2. Keep the target at 50 KB, or change it to any size you need.
  3. Check the preview, then download the new file.

The tool tries the best JPEG quality that fits under your limit. If the quality alone is not enough, it reduces the image dimensions a little at a time until the file fits.

Why 50KB?

Many online forms, job portals, exam registrations and government sites reject uploads above a size limit, and 50KB is a common one for photos and signatures. Smaller files also load faster on slow connections and save storage on mobile devices.

Questions

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything happens in your browser tab. Close the tab and the image is gone.

Will the picture look worse?

A little, since 50KB is small. Photos with fine detail lose more than simple images. Raise the target if the result looks too soft.

Why is the download always a JPG?

JPG gives the smallest file for photos. Transparent PNG areas become white.

Can I compress to a different size?

Yes. Type any number in the target box, for example 20, 100 or 200.
